Summer Challenge: Life's A Beach

Hi Everybody!!!  Sorry I'm so late on today's post, but I got to go to lunch with the bestie today!  We haven't been able to do this much because we had small children, but now they are teens (barely) and we took a four hour lunch :D

So today's challenge is Life's a Beach, a beach themed manicure.  I wasn't sure what to do, so my now-a-teen daughter drew out an idea for me and this is what I did:
I Used:
Sinful Colors- Snow Me White
Sinful Colors- Dream On (neon purple crème)
Sinful Colors- Anchors Away (yellow/orange neon crème)
Spoiled- Show Me Some Skin (beige crème)
Orly- Halley's Comet (aqua with aqua shimmer)
Orly- Royal Navy (blue with light blue shimmer)
Konad- Black Polish
Konad Plate SE 18
Small Detail Brush

Sorry for the messy clean up on my right hand...I did this at 2 am, and then ran out of the house this morning.

Thank you Now-a-Teen for the fabulous idea...sunset on the beach.  I wish I was there now :(   With a pina colada. Yum.
Be sure to check out the other beach themes by the wonderful ladies in this challenge!  I really enjoyed doing it and can't wait until the next one!!  Happy Polishing!!

ABC Challenge: Y is for...

Hi ya!!!  I hope everyone is having a fabulous hump day!  Today is the second to last ABC Challenge.  That makes me so sad.  I've loved doing this challenge and have come to love these ladies!!  But the good news?  We have another challenge coming up!  Yay!!  We will be starting up the next one in August :)

All that being said, I have to tell you, the real title for today's post is Y is for Y are You Making Me do Y??  I hit an absolute mental block at Y.  The one and only idea I had was Yellow.  Do you have any idea how frustrating yellow nail polish is?  UGH!!!  I tried two different yellows before finally choosing one.
This is Sinful Colors Anchors Away, a creamy yellow/orange polish.  I love the color, it reminds me of marinas, docks and the sea, so the name is perfect.  As for it's performance...

First, it's just like every other yellow because it was a pain in the tush to apply.  I love yellow polish and absolutely hate yellow polish.  It takes a minimum of three coats to get full coverage.  Seriously??  Ain't nobody got time for that!  This is three coats with top coat.  And what you see in the pictures is my third attempt. Why three attempts?  Because this polish didn't want to dry!!  It felt dry.  It looked dry.  I grab my book...NOT DRY!!!  I'd get a huge nick and have to redo that nail or nails.  By the second attempt, I would let 30 minutes pass between coats.  Guess what?  NOT DRY!!!
So now I've decided that Y is no longer a part of the ABC Challenge!!  Y and Yellow hate me so they are out of here!!

Ok, I'm done ranting, for now.  Please join me and see what these wonderfully creative ladies have come up with for the mean and cruel Y.  Happy Polishing!!!

Summer Challenge: Tiny Grains of Sand

Hey Y'all!!  How is your Tuesday going?  Mine is busy.  I just got a new camera and I'm so excited!!!  The wonderful hubby surprised me with it yesterday.  Now I can take pictures of my nails with a real camera instead of my phone's camera (but this post still has phone pics)  And, even better, I can now take pics of my now-a-teenager while she's dancing.  But first the hard part, trying to figure out how to work it!

But until then, I have the latest Summer Challenge ready for you.  Today's prompt is Tiny Grains of Sand, a dot manicure, so I have a Summery Dotty Gradient for you:
I Used:
Orly- Choreographed Chaos (light pink with light lilac shimmer)
Color Club- Gimme A Grape Big Kiss (bright red/purple)
Dotting Tool
Seche Vite Top Coat

I think this came out cute and looking like Summer.  And the best part is it's very easy to do.  I started with two coats of Orly Choreographed Chaos.  Then, using a large and medium dotting tool (or toothpick would work perfectly), I started making dots.  At the cuticle I made sure they overlapped to make a solid block of color, and then made fewer as I approached the tip.  Make sure to leave the tip plain.  Then just use a top coat.
Be sure to check out what the other ladies came up with for their Tiny Grains of Sand in the links below!  Happy Polishing!!

Review: Models Own Mermaid Tears & Golden Shore

Hi Everybody!!!  Finally getting my post up.  I'm sorry this is so late, but I was exhausted after this weekend.  It was so long.  But I had a fabulous day and a bizarre day.  But since I'm late, on with the review!

During a recent restock at Llarowe, I was finally able to pick up some of my biggest lemmings.  Two of them are Mermaid Tears and Golden Shore by Models Own (in the picture below with the base colors I used):
Aren't they fabulous???

Ok, let's start with my Number One Lemming, Mermaid Tears.  This is two coats of Mermaid Tears over two coats of essence break through and top coat (direct sun):
Mermaid Tears is a gorgeous polish of a light purple jelly base with flakies that shift between blue and aqua and teal.  The base is SUPER light.  So light that it barely gives a naked nail a purple hue so  I would strongly recommend wearing this over a base color.  The base I used, essence break through didn't seem to change its color at all.

As for Mermaid Tears, I LOVE it!!  It is flashing like little blue lights are on my nails.  Application was pretty easy.  The base isn't too thick.  Just apply it slowly and check each nail before moving on.  I didn't and I had a few flakies that were sticking straight up.  My only complaint is that the pictures show two coats and not a lot of flakies.  Next time I will fish around for them.  Other than that, this was everything I had hoped for.  Seriously, my hands keep flashing like I have lights on them.  Even in low light:

Next up is Golden Shore by Models Own:
This is two coats over Sinful Colors Sunburnt and a top coat.  Golden Shore has an orange jelly base with flakies that shift from gold to green to yellow.  This.  Is. Gorgeous!!  The base shows up on nails just a tiny bit more than Mermaid Tears, but it didn't alter the color of Sunburnt.  The base is really thick but was super easy to apply and there were plenty of flakies,  No fishing required.  Just like with Mermaid Tears though, apply the polish one nail at a time and check to make sure all of the flakies are lying flat.  This is just so pretty, and there is a ton of sparkle in it.  I'm loving it!

Bottom line?  Get these!!  If you love sparkle and flakies, these are a must have!  They are $8.00 each.  I hope y'all enjoyed today's review.  I'll talk to you tomorrow!!  Happy Polishing!!

Summer Challenge: A Million Miles Away

Hi y'all!!  I'm really late getting this up today.  I decided to spend some time with my little one.  Sometimes, you just have to, you know?  So right to today's challenge.  Today's prompt is A Million Miles Away, in other words, galaxy nails!!  And here are mine:
I Used:
Orly- Liquid Vinyl (black crème)
Sinful Colors- Snow Me White (white crème)
Orly- Royal Navy (blue with blue shimmer)
China Glaze- Grape Pop (purple crème)
China Glaze- Turned Up Turquoise (neon turquoise shimmer)
Finger Paints- Brushstroke Blush (pale pink crème)
Orly- Shine on Crazy Diamond (micro holographic glitter in clear base)
Make Up Sponges
Dotting Tool

For my step-by-step galaxy tutorial, click here.
I love doing Galaxy nails!!  And trust me, they are WAY easier than they look.  I promise you, you can do these.  Be sure to check out my tutorial above.  I hope y'all have a fabulous night!!  I'm off to cook dinner for the family!  Be sure to check out the other fabulous galaxies!!  Happy Polishing!!

ABC Challenge: X is for, well, X

Hi Y'all!!  How is everyone today?  Can you believe we are already to X??  And, dang it, I'm not sick.  I had only a couple of ideas (two...I had only two) and I went with the second idea.  So, drum roll please, here is my design for X:
I Used:
Finger Paints- Leonardo's Lime (lime/neon crème)
Finger Paints- Peacock Portrait (dark holo glitter bomb
Sinful Colors- Snow Me White (white crème)
Stripping Tape

Well, these didn't turn out like I meant for them to.  One problem I had was with Leonardo's Lime by Finger Paints.  Leonardo's Lime is a beautiful light neon green. I really loved the color, although it wasn't anything spectacular.  I have three other very similar polishes.  But the problem with this one is that it BLEEDS!!  Big time!!  It dyed my nails and bled through the white polish I topped it with.  Yep,  that's Sinful Colors Snow Me White on top.  It turned an ugly yellow color.

I also used another new color by Finger Paints, Peacock Portrait.  LOVE THIS!!!  It's a gorgeous, dark holo glitter bomb.  What's not to love???  Here's what the colors look like on their own (except Peacock Portrait is over white):
Picture's do not do Peacock Portrait justice.  Sadly there's not any sun today, but I will be wearing this again soon!!

AND::::  GFC is going away in just a week and a half.  If you follow me through GFC, please take a second to follow me through Bloglovin!!  I have a huge giveaway starting next month to celebrate my One Year Blogiversary and I don't want you to miss it!!  Be sure to check out what the other wonderful ladies came up with for X in the links below!!  Happy Polishing!!

Summer Challenge: S'more Please

Howdy Everyone!!  I hope y'all are doing great today.  It's a dark and rainy day here in Georgia. I can't wait to curl up with a good book....or go back to sleep.

So today is another Summer Challenge post!!
So today's prompt is S'more Please, meaning Summer campfires, and here is my design:

I Used:
For the Gradient:
Sinful Colors- Snow Me White (white crème)
Orly- Unlawful (red crème)
China Glaze- Roguish Red (red/orange crème)
Kleancolor- Neon Yellow (bright yellow crème)
For the Water Marble:
Orly- Liquid Vinyl
Sinful Colors- Clear

I love these!!  I hate that I have to take these off.  I used two different techniques to create this look: a gradient and a water marble (click on the technique to take you to the tutorials).  I know this seems time consuming, but it really didn't take that long.  I used the Sinful Colors Snow Me White as a base for my gradient, but I still had to do two coats/sponges to get the colors right.  Then once that dried, I did the water marble.  All the details on how to do these two techniques are in the links above.

I hope y'all enjoyed my Summer Campfire.  Be sure to check the links below to see the other fabulous designs!  Happy Polishing!!

Summer Plastic Wrap Mani

Hi my Lovelies!!!  I'm so happy to see you today and hope you are having a fabulous Monday!! I had a great weekend (can you tell, lol) and I will tell you all about it in a minute.  First I have to show you the mani I was wearing this weekend:
I Used:
OPI- Flashbulb Fuchsia
ELF- Un-named
Plastic Wrap

I love how this came out and I really loved these two colors together.  The OPI Flashbulb Fuchsia is a gorgeous fuchsia shimmer.  And sadly the ELF polish didn't have a name on it.  It was a dark purple with purple and blue micro glitter.  Just gorgeous!  And I got a lot of compliments on this mani.

This technique, the plastic wrap mani, is one of my all time favorites.  It's a lot of bang for the buck so to speak.  In other words, it's super easy but looks really complicated.  Just paint your base coat, then ball up a small amount of plastic wrap.  Dip it into your second color and dab on your nails.  Be sure to rotate your plastic wrap to help give your mani a more diverse look.
Ok, now I can't resist telling you about my weekend, I got to see my baby girl dance with a male partner in a pax de deu!!  That's a dance with both a ballerina and a male dancer.  And this was the first time ever!!!
Isn't she great??  I'm such a proud mama!!  This is a big deal for ballerinas.  Especially seeing she just got her first pointe shoes in January.  Have a fabulous Monday!!  Happy Polishing!!

Review: Born Pretty Glitter Rhinestones

The following products were furnished to Glittery Fingers & Sparkling Toes for review.  The opinions expressed are my own and were in not influenced in any way.

TGIF Everybody!!! I am so excited!!  I have to get straight to the review because, spoiler alert, I LOVE these rhinestones!!!  As soon as I saw them on the  Born Pretty website, I knew I had to have them!!  Born Pretty has named these Glitter Rhinestones, but they are so much more!  Here is what you receive:
The colors are, starting with the silver (right below the white spacer):
Metallic Silver
Neon Pink
Medium Orange
Brown
Turquoise
Neon Orange
Cream
Yellow
Purple
Dark Orange
Teal
Green

All the rhinestones, except the silver, have an aurora borealis finish that makes these glitter in a dark room!  The colors are beautiful enough on their own, but they added that AB sparkle, and they are GORGEOUS!!  I am so excited to show you these.  Here are just a few designs using just a few of the colors on the wheel (but trust me, you are going to see these a lot).  Pictures show the rhinestones in a light box and outside in direct light.
Silver outside

Silver in lightbox

Rhinestones in above pictures: Yellow, Orange, Turquoise, Green, Dark Orange and Purple

Cream rhinestones

Teal rhinestones

Aren't these gorgeous????  It took me a while to do this review because I wanted to make sure I showed you as many as possible.  These made my nails glitter like you wouldn't believe! And they never failed to get a ton of compliments!!!

To place these, just put a drop of clear or top coat where you want the rhinestone to go, then sink the rhinestone in to the polish.  This way you still get long wear (all of these pictures were taken at least 24 hours after I did the mani), but you still get to enjoy all the sparkle!!

They are $4.47 a wheel AND with my discount code NE5J61 you get 10% OFF!!!  And they have free shipping everywhere in the world!!!

And while you're on their site, be sure to look around.  They have EVERYTHING!!!!  Not just nail supplies (literally everything you could possibly want for your nails and nail art), but even jewelry, and decorating items (like items to decorate your bathroom)!!!!  They really are fabulous!!

I hope you enjoyed today's post!!  Happy Polishing!!!

Summer Challenge: Ice, Ice Baby

Hey Y'all!!  It's time for Summer Challenge and today's prompt is Ice, Ice Baby.  Or in other words, our favorite Summer drink!!  This was a hard choice.  My absolute favorite Summer drink is a frozen Pina Colada served by a sexy cabana boy while sitting on a Caribbean beach!!   But that seemed like a lot to put on a nail and a huge challenge on my artistic skills, lol.   Then I thought of a frozen Margarita, but I've seen that done a lot.  So I finally went with the "Champagne of the South", aka Sweet Tea:
I Used:
Sinful Colors- Clear Coat
China Glaze- Call of the Wild (brown crelly)
Art Club- White Ice (iridescent flakes)
Art Club- Fruit

First I have to explain that here in the south we take our Iced Tea VERY seriously.  There is even a law here in Georgia about how to make Sweet Tea.  Yep.  I'm serious. (If y'all want to know the recipe, by law recipe, let me know and I will share on my facebook page)

So I used the white ice flakes for ice and used the clear coat from Sinful Colors to thin out the Call of the Wild.  And then "garnished" my tea with lemon and mint.
Hope y'all enjoyed this Taste of the South.  Be sure to check out the other ladies' favorite summer drinks!  Happy Polishing!!

ABC Challange: W is for Wednesday Water Marble

Hi Lovelies!!!  Happy Wednesday!  How are y'all doing today?  We're good here.  I'm taking my now-just-barely-a-teenager to dance again tonight.  She is taking a partnering workshop where she's learning to dance with a partner....a male partner!  She's doing lifts and stuff!  With a MALE!!  My 13 year old!!  They grow up SOOOOO fast!!!  It's ok.  I'm going to be ok.  Really I am.  Maybe we should get to the mani!

Today's prompt is W and W is for Wednesday Water Marble!!
I Used:
Sinful Colors- Snow Me White (white crème)
Nina Ultra Pro- Blue Blaze (blue neon)
Finger Paints- Pink Perspective (pink neon)
Sinful Colors- Dream On (purple neon)
China Glaze- I'm With the Lifeguard (green neon)
Orly- Glowstick (yellow neon)

Ok, I would actually call this a Summer Water Marble, but I needed the extra W!  To see a tutorial on how to do water marbles, click here!  But I have to tell you, working with neon colors was HUGE pain in the butt!  It dries so quickly, especially Orly Glowstick.  I had another neon yellow and I should have changed them out, but I had already started and was afraid it would be noticeably different.  I also start most water marbles with a white base coat to make the colors pop, but it's absolutely a must with neons.
I hope y'all enjoyed today's challenge post.  Be sure to check out all the other awesome ladies and their W designs!!  And mark your calendars, next week is.......X!!  I can not wait to see what everyone comes up with!  On a side note, I think I'm coming down with something and will be SUPER sick next Wednesday!!  Happy Polishing!!

Summer Challenge: Flip Flop

Hi Y'all!!  How are you doing today?  I have a super busy day today so I'm going to get right to today's post!  Today's prompt for the Summer Challenge is Flip Flops, not the shoe but your favorite Summer book or tv show.  This was hard, there are a lot of Summer tv shows I like, True Blood, America's Got Talent...  But I went with a book, Suzanne Collin's Catching Fire!  My now-a-teenager and I loved this book series, and the first movie, and they filmed Catching Fire here in Georgia, so that's why I chose it.

I've done a couple of Hunger Games manis, but I wanted this one to be different.  I wanted it to look like my entire nail was on fire, so this is what I came up with:
I Used:
Loreal- Jolly Lolly (bright red jelly)
Color Club- Daisy Does It (yellow with yellow and green shimmer)
Revlon- Haunted Heart (orange frost)
Color Club- No name on bottle (dark red with gold shimmer)
Detail Brush

So this was fun to do.  I started with two coats of Loreal Jolly Lolly, a bright red jelly.  And then going from lightest to darkest, I made the flames.  The lighter the color, the bigger the flames were.  Just dab a little polish on a plate or paper, then using a small brush (any kind would work), I made backward and forward "S" shapes.

I really like how this looks.  It's pretty much how I pictured it!  Be sure to check out what the other fabulous ladies did for this challenge!  I can't wait to see!  Until tomorrow, Happy Polishing!!

Review Embossed Metal-Style Stickers Born Pretty Store

The following products were furnished to Glittery Fingers & Sparkling Toes for review.  The opinions expressed are my own and were in not influenced in any way.

Hi Y'all!!  Happy Monday!!  How was your weekend?  Mine was nice.  The now-a-teenager went to a friend's house for the entire weekend!!  Friday and Saturday!!  It was nice for me and the hubby to have some alone time, but I really missed her.  Honest.  I did.  After about a day and half of quiet!

On to the review!  I've done a review for items from Born Pretty Store before (to see review, click here).  It was metallic nail foils and I loved them!!  So I was happy to review another product from them.  I chose two things this time, some gorgeous rhinestones (review coming up) and embossed metal style nail stickers.

Let me start this review with: Oh. My. Goodness!!!!  These are so gorgeous!!
Aren't these fabulous???  So pretty!  So delicate!  So feminine!  Along with the above scrolls, the sheet includes lace:
Isn't this gorgeous too!!  So dainty and feminine!!!

These are stickers that come in a sheet for $2.98 each (plus 10% off with my code to the right:
My biggest fear when I saw them, was they looked so fragile.  I was sure I was going to tear them apart trying to remove them from the sheet.  But I didn't.  As fragile and delicate as they look, they came off the sheet with out any problems.  They are much studier than they look.  In fact, it's so easy to use these, it almost seems like cheating!

For the scrolls:
I started with two coats of Nina Ultra Pro Blue Blaze.  When that was almost dry, but still tacky, I removed the sticker and placed it in the center of my nail.  Then finished with a top coat to protect it.  That's it!  It is that easy to get  this incredible look.  And I received so many compliments on it!

For the lace:
I used two coats of Essie Boom Boom Room.  Again when it was almost dry I placed the stickers.  These came in a long sticker, so I just cut them to the length I wanted.  This would also make great looking half moons and French tips!

I love ordering from Born Pretty Store.  The prices are so reasonable and if that wasn't enough, the shipping is free!!  Anywhere in the world!!  AND with my code you get 10% off!!!!  And I haven't had any problems receiving my products.  To order these stickers, simply click here!  And don't forget to use my code:  NE5J61!!!  And while you are there, be sure to check out all the incredible products Born Pretty Store carries!!  Everything from nail supplies to home decoration!!

I hope y'all enjoyed today's post.  Be sure to stay on the look out for the review of the incredible rhinestones (these are so unique, you are going to be blown away by them) coming soon!  Happy Polishing!!!
